Saturday, 10:00 am to 11:30 am
This meeting is closed; only those who have a desire to recover from the effects of growing up in an alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional family may attend.
In this hands-on workshop, we use simple sock puppets (without faces) to help show the relationship between two parts of ourselves: the Inner Child and the Loving Parent.
Each person will get a chance to try both roles—speaking as the Inner Child (the part of us that feels angry, fearful, abandoned, loving, joyful, and energized), and also as the Loving Parent (the part that can be kind, caring, supportive, and protective).
Using the sock puppets helps make this inner conversation easier and safer. It gives a little space from big feelings, so we can say things we might keep inside.
This activity helps us learn to talk to ourselves more kindly. Instead of judging or ignoring the Inner Child, the Loving Parent learns to listen, comfort, and care. CLOSED means ACA members only.
